Principal Site Payment Reconciliation Analyst

This role ensures the highest standards of financial accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence across multiple studies and programs. The position involves managing a team of reconciliation analysts, driving strategic improvements, and serving as the primary subject matter expert for site payment reconciliation processes.
This senior leadership role is critical for maintaining the financial integrity of clinical trials, optimizing operational efficiency, and contributing to the strategic success of the organization's research programs. The Principal Site Payment Reconciliation Analyst will be expected to drive innovation, lead by example, and serve as a trusted advisor to both their team and senior management on all matters related to site payment reconciliation.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a team of Site Payment Reconciliation Analysts, providing guidance, performance management, and professional development opportunities.
Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for site payment reconciliation across the organization, ensuring alignment with broader financial and clinical objectives.
Oversee the execution of complex, high-priority reconciliations, personally handling the most challenging cases and providing expert guidance to the team.
Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for the reconciliation function, regularly reporting on team performance and financial impact to senior management.
Collaborate with senior stakeholders across Clinical Operations, Finance, Data Management, and other relevant departments to drive process improvements and resolve systemic issues.
Spearhead the development and implementation of innovative reconciliation methodologies, leveraging advanced analytics, automation, and emerging technologies.
Ensure strict compliance with all relevant financial regulations, company policies, and industry standards, acting as the final point of escalation for compliance-related matters.
Lead cross-functional initiatives to enhance the integration between clinical data systems, financial platforms, and reconciliation processes.
Represent the reconciliation function in high-level meetings and strategic planning sessions, advocating for resources and process improvements.
Manage complex vendor relationships related to reconciliation tools and services, negotiating contracts and ensuring optimal performance.
Develop and deliver training programs to upskill the team and educate broader stakeholders on reconciliation best practices.
Proactively identify and mitigate financial risks related to site payments across the clinical trial portfolio.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field • 7+ years of experience in financial reconciliation within the clinical research industry, including at least 3 years in a leadership role
Proven track record of managing and developing high-performing teams
Expert knowledge of clinical trial financial processes, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
Advanced proficiency in financial systems, data analytics tools, and reconciliation software
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive organizational change
Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of influencing senior leadership
Demonstrated success in implementing process improvements and technology solutions
Deep understanding of the clinical trial lifecycle and its financial implications
