Meet Siddhika! Siddhika shares her personal story about returning to work after a career break, and how Parexel's HR and line manager has supported her fulfill her home-based working request.

  • Can you please introduce yourself?

Hello, I am Siddhika Nikam, I work as a Clinical Data Analyst II and I am decentralized out of the Thane / Maharashtra Office near Mumbai, India.

I am so happy to have joined such an esteemed organization like Parexel after a sabbatical of close to 6 years. I was concerned that after taking a career break I would find it difficult to source an organization that could meet my career goals and working requirements.

  • Why did you have to take a career break?

I never wanted a career break but unfortunately, corporate industry in India especially within Clinical Management, the ability to “Work from Home” option was zero to none, hence unwillingly had to take a career break. In 2020, the pandemic hit, and “Work from Home” became the highlight and the “new normal” way of working. This created ample opportunities for women like me who wanted to restart their career. So, I would say this was a blessing in disguise for me, since I had taken a very thoughtful decision to restart my career.

  • Why did you choose Parexel above other organizations?

I began searching organizations that were willing to provide permanent “Work from Home” opportunities and I am glad that Parexel is one such company that did that. I still remember vividly that when I received a call from Parexel to interview, I was super happy but also super anxious at the same time. I was very keen to restart, so I decided to give it my best!

  • Can you tell me about the interview process?

My interview was taken by two lovely interviewers who made me very comfortable, and I sailed through the interview without any hiccups. I felt the interviews really got to know me and find out what skills and experience I had and could bring to the company. I really liked the professional way the interview was conducted. After I was selected and offered a position in Parexel my joy knew no bounds. I was exhilarated to have had such a successful interview, and now be a part of Parexel!

  • How does being home-based suit you?

The virtual way of working was a very new concept for me, and so I was apprehensive of all the formalities of how it would work “virtually”. Luckily I was proved wrong by the super-efficient and helpful Human Resources team, who made the transition process very smooth. Being home-based really works well for me and gives me the flexibility and freedom I had wished for in a career. It really does help me achieve a better work-life balance.

Also, I would like to extend my thanks to my line manager who has helped make this experience pleasant. And lastly, I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to Parexel for giving me this wonderful opportunity to restart my career!

Thank you Siddhika for sharing your story and journey at Parexel.
