Senior Scientist I or Scientist III - Laboratory & Instrumentation Coordinator - Biologics - FSP
Job ID R0000046529We are looking to fill a Scientist 3 - Laboratory and Instrumentation Coordinator position working as a full-time employee of Parexel FSP on long-term assignment onsite at one of our clients located in Rahway, NJ. This position offers full benefits, sick time, 401K, paid holidays, and paid time off.This role does not offer sponsorship.
Position Overview: The Laboratory and Instrumentation Coordinator will serve as the primary point of contact for all laboratory operations in multiple labs. This role will focus on managing daily lab activities, ensuring the effective use of laboratory resources, and overseeing that lab safety practices are implemented. The ideal candidate is passionate about biological sample testing, possesses strong organizational, communication, and time management skills, and is eager to implement ideas to enhance our laboratory’s efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications - B.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or similar life sciences or engineering discipline and years of relevant experience as listed below
- Scientist 3 - B.S. with 3-5 years of experience
- Senior Scientist I - B.S. with 5+ years of experience
Responsibilities:
Laboratory Operations Management:
- Act as the primary point of contact for laboratory functions, providing guidance and support to laboratory staff.
- Collaborate with various teams to ensure smooth operations during lab stand-downs and organizational initiatives
- Manage temperature storage facilities, including both emergency protocols and scheduled clean-outs.
- Prepare mobile phase and stock solutions for platform assays, ensuring they remain stocked and within expiry date.
- Receive samples through our laboratory management system, ensuring samples are ready for testing.
- Undefined Equipment and Maintenance Oversight: Submit work orders for lab equipment and computer calibrations; facilitate scheduling with technicians and supervise their activities. Schedule and follow up on preventive maintenance for laboratory equipment Serve as the point of contact for lab utility needs. Manage inventory and procurement processes of lab supply. Order and coordinate the organization of common laboratory items; review backordered items and maintain updated inventories of essential supplies. Assist with scheduling, escorting, and on-site supervision of equipment technicians. Required Skills and Experience: Proven laboratory management experience with a strong understanding of lab operations and safety protocols. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a strong ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience in troubleshooting instruments in at least one of the following techniques: Liquid Chromatography (HPLC / UPLC)Protein A Titer, Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC), Ion Exchange Chromatography (IEX, AEX, CEX), Reverse Phase (RP), or Hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC)Electrophoretic methods such as capillary electrophoresis sodium dodecyl sulfate (CE-SDS) and/or capillary isoelectric focusing (cIEF) ELISA (HCP, proA) and binding potency assay qPCR and basic molecular biology techniques (gel electrophoresis, etc.)High-throughput liquid handling system, e.g., Tecan, Bravo, etc.
