Scientist III - Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Specialist
Job ID R0000032039We are looking to fill a Scientist III - Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Specialistposition working as a full-time employee of Parexel FSP on long-term assignment onsite at one of our clients located in Rahway, NJ. This position offers full benefits, sick time, 401K, paid holidays, and paid time off. This position does not offer any sponsorship.
Responsibilities
Operates, maintains and troubleshoots open access Waters liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) instruments to support Client’s discovery chemistry group, as well as (HTE) high throughput experimentation Waters LC-MS when needed
Communicates and coordinates with chemists and onsite engineers on instruments repairs
Checks instrument performance daily, prepares mobile phases, and performs routine upkeep of open access LC-MS instruments
Responds to end-user repair calls for LC-MS and troubleshoots and/or repairs simple issues such as leaks or clogs
Submits and coordinates repair tickets for more complex issues
Maintains accurate documentation and records
Utilizes analytical method development to characterize small molecules and peptides, antibody drug conjugates and others
Conducts purity analysis of investigational compounds by liquid chromatography (LC)
Responsible for analyzing High Throughput Experiment (HTE) samples
Qualifications:
BA or BS in a relevant field with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in analytical chemistry or in a biologics testing laboratory; or
MS in a relevant field with 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in analytical chemistry or in a biologics testing laboratory
Required Skills and Experience
Experienced in analytical characterization techniques for biologics such as reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC)
Excellent communication skills and teamwork skills
Preferred Skills
Experience with Waters LC-MS, experience with Sciex, or Agilent LC-MS is a plus and others
Other analytical characterization techniques for biologics, such as:
Size exclusion-high-performance liquid chromatography (SEC)
Ion exchange-high-performance liquid chromatography (IEX)
Hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC)
High resolution mass spectrometry
