Principal Scientist I, II or III - Radiolabel Synthetic Chemist

Description

We are looking to fill a position for an Organic Chemist in Labeled Compound Synthesis working as a full-time employee of Parexel on long-term assignment onsite at one of our clients located in Rahway, NJ. This position offers full benefits, sick time, 401K, paid holidays, and paid time off. This position does not offer any sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the group as needed with all aspects of the synthesis, purification and characterization of compounds and execute administrative tasks in support of these efforts
  • Following provided procedures, synthesize compounds of interest on milligram to gram reaction scales
  • Characterize the products of chemical reactions using appropriate instrumentation including LCMS, HPLC and NMR
  • Purify the products by chromatography and separation technologies
  • Handle and manipulate low energy radioactive compounds following established procedures
  • Perform some operations of air or moisture-sensitive compounds in a glovebox or using a Schlenk line, according to established procedures
  • Prepare monthly status reports as well as detailed reports on the procedures, protocols, and experimental data in a suitable format
  • Maintain laboratory chemical inventory according to established procedures and maintain a safe, well-stocked and clean laboratory in accordance with technical and safety protocols
  • Report all maintenance issues of the laboratory equipment and instruments to the proper facility management teams and personnel

Qualifications

  • Principal Scientist I: PhD < 1 year experience; MS with 3+ years; BS with 7+ years
  • Principal Scientist II: PhD > 1 year experience; MS with 5+ years; BS with 10+ years
  • Principal Scientist III: PhD with 3+ years of experience, MS with 7+ years; BS with 12+ years

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience in synthesis, purification, and characterization of compounds

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience working with stable and radioactive isotopes
