Head of West Coast Business Development
Job ID R0000027879Parexel has an excellent opportunity for a Head of West Coast Business Development to join our organization and lead biotech sales in the western region of the Americas. The Head of West Coast Business Development, Biotech will be accountable for achieving the sales goals in the region by leading the Biotech Business Development team (CSD’s) and maintaining active contacts with a broad network of customers and providers.
RESPONSIBILIITES
Accountable for achieving the sales goals in their region
Responsible for partnership development with selected accounts.
Work closely with management to ensure alignment of strategy and tactics.
Work closely with Business Operations management to ensure an effective sales process including proposals and contracts.
Generate sales targets/strategy/actions in line with business targets and communicate this to the CSD’s and business as a whole.
Generate a sales pipeline and provide input to the business forecasting process.
Set objectives for and to lead the CSD team.
Run regional sales meetings to educate, motivate and facilitate interdepartmental interactions.
Ensure integration with the ROW Sales Executives through regular contact with the President of Biotech and through the sales administration team.
Managing the pipeline for the region, ensuring sufficient coverage of prospecting through to award; provide appropriate guidance on resolution and discuss areas of conflict with functional managers.
Provide input to management teams regarding sales and for overall strategy development.
Represent CSD’s and Parexel to the external communities and internal constituents.
Undertake the full range of duties relevant to the leadership, management, and development of the team to ensure that their performance meets and/or exceeds both the business and their own personal goals/objectives.
Ensure the timely completion of the performance management process using the global tool.
Participate in the formal review processes e.g. performance and salary reviews to corporate standards and timescales. Maintain a positive, results-oriented work environment, building partnerships and modeling teamwork, communicating to the team in an open, balanced and objective manner.
Qualifications:
A degree in life science, a higher degree or medical degree is desirable but not mandatory.
At least 10 years overall experience in the CRO and/or Pharma industry.
Expertise in Sales function with at least 2 years' service sales experience in a CRO.
Experience in line management is required.
Expertise in running and managing a sales function.
Experience of interacting with board level/CSuite.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, (including experience in making presentations at conferences, meetings, training sessions).
Client focused approach to work.
A flexible attitude with respect to work assignments, new learning and travel.
Ability to manage multiple and varied tasks with enthusiasm and prioritize workload with attention to detail.
Willingness to work with multiple supervisors in a matrix environment, and to value the importance of teamwork.
IT literate – Experience with Microsoft based applications and general knowledge of PC functions.
A record of demonstrable personal achievement with proven management and leadership skills.
Ability to manage large, complex projects and develop cross-functional support.
Team player with outstanding inter-personal, negotiation skills and organizational skills.
Excellent stakeholder/relationship management.
Able to role model behaviors and ethics.
