Scientist III - Analytical Chemist - High-Throughput Purification Support

We are looking to fill a Scientist III – Analytical Chemist - High-Throughput Purification Support position working as a full-time employee of Parexel FSP on long-term assignment onsite at one of our clients located in West Point, PA. This position offers full benefits, sick time, 401K, paid holidays, and paid time off.

Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibilities for the position include purification of desired products from reaction mixtures (mg-g crude scale) by applying standard chromatographic, LC/MS, SFC technologies within the context of a predefined workflow.

  • Samples will also be concentrated, weighed and QC’d

  • Reports will be generated and communicated back to scientists

  • Liaise with scientists to coordinate requests for capital expenditures and new lab equipment; assist with the disposal of equipment and materials

  • Submit work orders for lab equipment and computer repairs; facilitate scheduling with technicians and supervise their activities on-site

  • Schedule and follow up on preventive maintenance for laboratory equipment

  • Assist in inventory and procurement processes. Order and coordinate the organization of common laboratory items; review backordered items and maintain updated inventories of essential supplies

  • Assist with scheduling, escorting, and on-site supervision of equipment technicians

Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or closely related field

  • Scientist 3 - BS 3-5 years of hands-on research experience or MS 1-2 years of experience

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience in analytical characterization and chemical compound purification with expertise in one or more of HPLC, MS, SFC.

  • May have experience in high throughput automation and instrumentation applied to chemical compound purification.

  • Knowledge of informatics and basic computer programs (excel, word, etc).

  • Knowledge in HPLC and / or SFC purification of one or more of the following classes of chemicals compounds; Small Molecules, Peptides, and other classes. 

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills in a fast paced, team environment.

  • Ability to multi - task and deliver on multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of standard laboratory instrumentation (e.g. liquid handlers, MS, automated chromatography, HPLC, SFC, chiral chromatography, etc)

  • Proven laboratory management experience with a strong understanding of lab operations and safety protocols.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a strong ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
