This is an in-office role in our Durham location.
Job Introduction:
At Parexel, we are a leading Clinical Research Organization company specializing in delivering life-changing medicines to patients. We are seeking a Director, IT Operations to provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Data and Technology operations group, responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of IT services, maintaining the availability and performance of IT systems, and driving operational excellence.
Who we are looking for:
Driven individuals who will establish and lead strategic direction for global IT operations, including service delivery, end-user support, and IT service management frameworks across multiple regional sites through a team of regional IT leads. Execute strategic vision that aligns with the overall business strategy and goals. That possess excellent problem-solving and analytical skills while demonstrating impeccable communication skills.
What you’ll do:
- Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and direction to the IT operations team. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work culture that encourages professional growth and development. Ensure adequate skills and resources are available to support IT operations across all regions.
- Drive enterprise-wide IT infrastructure excellence by developing and implementing standards, policies, and processes that ensure optimal system performance, reliability, and security across all locations. Continuously assess and improve IT operational processes, methodologies, and workflows through automation and optimization initiatives.
- Collaborate with the executive team and finance department to establish the IT operations budget and allocate resources effectively. Monitor and control expenditures, optimize costs, and ensure alignment of spending with strategic priorities. Manage relationships with IT vendors, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with service level agreements.
- Establish and maintain comprehensive IT governance frameworks while identifying and mitigating operational risks. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, data protection regulations, and industry standards through collaboration with internal audit teams and implementation of robust control measures.
Additional details:
Ideal candidates will possess a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in IT operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role and demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams. Demonstrated expertise in enterprise IT infrastructure management, including system reliability, performance optimization, capacity planning, and cybersecurity frameworks. Strong understanding of ITIL frameworks, IT service management principles, and industry best practices. Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. Bachelors degree and/or equivalent work experience is required.
