Job Title: Recreation & Activities Coordinator
At Parexel, we are a leading Clinical Research Organization (CRO) specializing in delivering life‑changing medicines to patients. We are seeking a Recreation and Activities Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you’ll work toward building a deeper connection and understanding with those who count on us most. Through questioning the status quo and collaborating cross‑functionally, the Recreation and Activities Coordinator is responsible for enhancing participant well‑being, coordinating therapeutic activities, and supporting daily procedures during inpatient Early Phase clinical trials.

What you’ll do:
Coordination and Planning
- Coordinate and plan participant recreation activities tailored to study design and individual interests
- Create, maintain, and post a monthly activity calendar
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors to schedule recreational events
- Communicate regularly with the CRC’s to be aware of study specific food restrictions, sunlight exposure restrictions, holter and monitor hours with activity restrictions, Etc.
- Coordinate team-building activities for staff
Participant Interaction and Support
- Interact regularly with study participants to enhance well‑being and promote social engagement
- Assist participants with routine activities and procedures such as meals, fasting schedules, toiletry distribution, scrubs, and laundry
- Encourage and remind participants of unit rules and general guidelines
Communication and Reporting
- Monitor participant comfort and notify clinical teams of any notable changes or concerns
- Review participant satisfaction survey and adjust activities based on feedback
- Review the Unit calendar regularly to have a comprehensive overview of admissions and discharges of different studies and the dorm occupancy plan
- Review study participant needs and restrictions with CRC’s and nurses to determine course of therapy
Training and Compliance
- Train staff who support participant recreational activities
- Maintain knowledge of SOPs, hospital policies, and procedures, applying them consistently in daily work
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- 1–2 years of relevant experience in recreational therapy, activities coordination, or a related field
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide age‑ and indication‑appropriate recreational therapy
- Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Valid CPR or BLS Certification preferred but not required
- Ability to lift thirty (30) pounds
Additional Details:
- Local travel required: Maryland Driver’s License and /or reliable transportation
- Candidates should meet flexible shift requirements, including standard Monday–Friday business hours (9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.), occasional later shifts (11:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.), and regular weekend coverage (typically 2 weekend shifts per month, depending on study and participant needs)
Base Pay Range: $23.00 to $28.00 per hour
Actual salaries may vary within the range based on several factors including, but not limited to education, training, experience, professional achievement, and location.
In addition to base salary, some roles may be eligible for participation in Parexel’s annual performance-based bonus plan, annual salary review and additional total rewards incentives.
