• Please introduce yourself and your role at Parexel.

I am Aditi Waghmare, currently working as Senior Principal Statistical Programmer having 11 years of experience. I joined Parexel in 2017 to explore new opportunities and gain further experience within the industry.

• What does a day as a Statistical Programmer look like? What are your core responsibilities?

Usually, my day starts with checking emails and I add to and modify my plan of work for the day. One of the key and important tasks is checking in on my team and assessing the progress on various projects.

I ensure I complete work assigned to me and that I prepare the plan of work for the following day.

My responsibilities include coordinating and leading the Statistical Programming team; providing technical support and advice to internal and external sponsors. I work independently to support various programming activities related to the analysis and reporting of clinical study data; monitor quality; timelines; resource allocation, and productivity.

• What traits and/or skills are needed to be a successful Statistical Programmer?

Analytical thinking; paying attention to details; domain knowledge and willingness to learn new things are all skills needed to be a successful Statistical Programmer.

• What would you like people to know about your job or department?

I thoroughly enjoy working with my coworkers! In my team, we have a very light-hearted atmosphere. It's that atmosphere that encourages me to go to work every day. It’s an open environment where you can express yourself and suggest your ideas and opinions. I have also had a variety of opportunities to grow since I joined my team. Being able to grow professionally as well as personally is important to me.

I am very happy to say that I get respect from my team as a leader, this furthermore motivates me to help and guide the team to the best of my ability. Leading a team is an enriching experience, which helps you as a professional grow and learn too.

• What is it about your position as a Senior Principal Statistical Programmer that challenges you most?

There is still a lot to learn even working and performing various tasks at multiple levels that certainly challenges me. Such challenges are an opportunity to grow!

• How would you describe what it’s like to work at Parexel? 

I enjoy working at Parexel, there is a good balance between work and personal life. • What excites you most about the work you do?

I think it is the knowledge that I am part of a process that helps to improve human health and contribute to the development of a therapy that will ultimately benefit a patient; this excites me the most.

Even if the part you play working on a clinical trial seems like it's just a small part, just remembering that you can really make a difference, most certainly makes your work meaningful.

• How would you describe what it’s like working with your fellow colleagues?

It's a pleasure to work with a knowledgeable and respectful team; you certainly learn a lot of things in your day-to-day work. The sharing of knowledge and ideas is very rewarding.

• How has Parexel supported your career development?

I have been able to get multiple opportunities to explore various types of work and all the support needed for the same. I have been recognized and rewarded for my hard work and contributions, this encourages me to continue to try my best. 

• Tell me something most people don’t know about you.

I am a talkative person once I warmed up but usually, this takes time.

• What do you enjoy when you’re not at work?

I would really struggle to live without reading, music, dramas. These activities certainly help me achieve a work-life balance and to switch off from work.  

• What habit or behavior or belief have you recently acquired? Why is it now in your life?

“Gratitude is a choice, so celebrate the small things”.  After the pandemic, I realized that small things like taking a stroll in the morning in your local neighborhood can be refreshing, and not to take such small things for granted. 

• Tell me what things you think would change the world for the better?

Honesty, accountability, empathy, and consistency would change the world to be a better place.

• If you wrote a ‘user manual’ for how people should interact with you, what would be the most important point in the manual?
